The game was originally scheduled to release worldwide on February 25, 2021. However, the developers at Production Exabilities needed more time to clean it up, as they felt the game had not reached enough quality in the following aspects:

  • In-game visual presentations
  • The conceptual exhilarating game design
  • Improvement of cutscene performances
  • Adjusting an optimal game balance that establishes both exhilaration and difficulty
  • Optimizing gameplay on game consoles

At the same time, Clouded Leopard also revealed the secret item in the Wing of Darkness limited edition. The item turned out to be a special illustration drawn by Haruhiko Mikimoto, a veteran character designer known for his works in the Macross series, as well as Super Dimension Century Orguss and Mobile Suit Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket.

The illustration features the game’s two protagonists: the blue-haired Erika Loerzer and the blonde-haired Klara Ernst. Both of them were chosen to become Fräuleins, pilots of the HELT-System armaments that can stand off against units from a mysterious hostile force called Blanker.

Wing of Darkness will be released for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC on June 3, 2021.
