Arc System Works has published new screenshots for the Guilty Gear Strive online mode, giving potential players a sneak peek at what the full game’s online connectivity will look like. These new images also follow up the previous reveal of the fighting game’s offline modes, such as Arcade and Survival.
Strive will use the same GGPO rollback netcode used recently in the PC version of Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R. Although Strive‘s server supports multiple regions, the developer team promised that the rollback netcode will deliver “a great match experience, regardless of the distance between the players.” It even suggested players visit another region if they couldn’t find opponents in their own area.
We know so far that Guilty Gear Strive will support regions of the US West Coast, East Coast, South America, Europe, Middle East, Russia, Southeast Asia, Oceania, Korea, and Japan.
Previously in October 2020, Arc System Works’ Daisuke Ishiwatari and Akira Katano talked about how they abolished the Ranking system in favor of a new Tower Floor system. Floors will be accessible by players with a similar skill level. If you have won consecutive matches, you will be automatically transferred to a higher floor. However, the game will also offer an outdoor floor where any players, regardless of their skill levels, can enter.
There are multiple ways to find an opponent online. Other than interacting on the lobby floors, you can also have the game automatically search for an opponent while honing your skills in Training Mode. Once found, you can also decide whether to immediately move into the match or let the game notify you with a pop-up.
Guilty Gear Strive will be available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC on April 9, 2021. The fighting game’s cross-platform multiplayer is supported only between the PS4 and PS5.
