In Fuuraiki 4, the player will assume the role of a magazine writer who visits Gifu for four weeks to write articles for a competition. The game’s overall goal is to visit as many locations as possible and submit articles covering them within the time limit.

Fuuraiki 4 - daily gameplay flow

The protagonist will set up camp to sleep at during his Gifu trip. A day’s flow in the game starts with waking up to make coffee in the morning. During the day, the player can travel to various locations within the prefecture, as long as the fuel-like stamina gauge still permits it. In the Touring Mode, the player may freely choose the preferred direction while enjoying a 360-degree view of the scenery.

When you arrive at a location, you can also take photos while triggering conversation events. Once the protagonist got exhausted, he will retreat to his camp to turn in for the night. You can submit articles to the competition website at the campsite or even trigger sub-events when the conditions are fulfilled.

Players will be able to visit over 100 places that also exist in the real-life Gifu prefecture. The featured locations include the Gero Onsen, Tanekura Village, Naegi Castle Ruins, Yoro Park, and Tokuyama Dam—the biggest rockfill dam in Japan. The game will also feature several hidden spots with picturesque landscapes that do not appear on the map and must be searched for manually.

Fuuraiki 4 will release for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch in Japan on April 22, 2021.
