Evangelion 3.0+1.0 Movie Grosses 3.3 Billion Yen in First Week

Following a successful first day showing, Studio Khara has released first week box office numbers for Neon Genesis Evangelion 3.0+1.0: Thrice Upon a Time. Announced via Twitter, the movie made over 3.3 billion yen during its first week and sold over 2 million tickets. This makes Neon Genesis Evangelion 3.0+1.0 the fastest grossing movie in the Rebuild series, overtaking the first week sales of the previous movie Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo. The precise revenue number is ¥3,338,422,400, or $30,559,751. In comparison, Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo grossed over 5.3 billion yen in total and reached 2.3 billion yen in its first week. Studio Khara thanked viewers for coming out to watch the movie even in the midst of a pandemic, where movie theatres in some locations were imposing restrictions.

Studio Khara also released two new TV Spots for Evangelion 3.0+1.0, featuring a few scenes from the movie. You can watch the videos on the official Evangelion Twitter Account and the Studio Khara YouTube channel.

Neon Genesis Evangelion 3.0+1.0: Thrice Upon a Time is the fourth and final film of the Rebuild of Evangelion film series and will conclude the events of the franchise. While the movie experienced delays due to COVID-19 concerns, the film has seen a relatively successful release in Japan. The film has yet to release abroad, and Studio Khara has recently made a statement against pirating of the film in Japanese, Chinese, and English.

Neon Genesis Evangelion 3.0+1.0: Thrice Upon a Time is currently available in Japanese theatres.
