Yoko Taro and Yosuke Saito’s completely new game is already well in development, as they mentioned playing it during the livestream. We know that Saito will serve as the title’s producer, while Yoko Taro will take the role of creative director. Although they announced that it is a download-only game, there is a possibility that the title could see a special physical edition. Additionally, the duo described the project as “indie-like.”

When speaking about the new game, Yoko Taro was stumped. He said the title was “difficult to explain.” He also noted, “It’s a kind of weird game. I’ve created something enigmatic that I have no clue how to market. I want people to play it, but I have no clue how to get them to play it.”

Saito chimed in and described the project as “nostalgic, but with a new feel to it.” However, according to him, the internal team responded favorably by saying the title “is totally gonna be a hit!” Saito ended the announcement by saying that there is a possibility that they will reveal more information about it within the next several days. The discussion happened around the two-hour mark in the stream.

The development team also had several announcements for fans during the stream. First, the Square Enix Cafe will have a special NieR promotion with food and drinks. Next, there will be new Nendoroids and new figures of Kaine and A2 to collect. Lastly, the upcoming remake NieR Replicant will have some free DLC for fans at launch.
