Metal Max Spin-off Metal Dogs Pochi

Metal Dogs Metal Max Spin-off Will Enter Early Access This Summer

Back in May 2021, the Metal Max 30th anniversary stream included an announcement for a Metal Dogs spin-off starring Pochi. Now, the roguelike Metal Dogs has an early access release window. It will appear on Steam in Summer 2021. It will be available in the early state for up to six months. However, before that a closed overseas beta will be held.

In Metal Dogs, players will follow one of three dogs in the Metal Max universe. There will be Pochi the Shiba Inu, who is a series staple, as well as Bell the Doberman and Bonanza the Bulldog. All three are voiced by Hiro Shimono, who also played Almaz in Disgaea 3, Emil in Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World, Rex in Xenoblade Chronicles 2, and Ryunosuke in The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles. The dogs have weapons and armor strapped onto them, and you’ll find more loot as you go after Wanted enemies in the Wasteland while looking for the hero. Each time you head into a dungeon, it will look different and have different rewards in it.

The early access phase should last “3 to 6 months.” It will have 30 quests and controller support at launch. 24Frame’s goal is to work on balancing and bug fixing during this period.

The closed overseas beta is also coming soon. 24Frame didn’t offer an exact date for it. However, people can request access to the playtest on the Steam product page until July 23, 2021.

Metal Dogs will come to PCs via Steam Early Access in Summer 2021.
