More FFXI Zones Showcased in New Virtual Backgrounds

Square Enix offered up another batch of FFXI virtual backgrounds. People who download the brief videos can use them as looping, active backgrounds when talking to people online. They can be set when using services like Zoom. This time around, they “take” people to five FFXI zones.

The five FFXI virtual backgrounds make it look like people are in the Leafallia, Misareaux Coast, Ra’Kaznar Inner Court, Valley of Sorrows, and Western Adoulin zones. Each one offers some minimal animations. This means they could easily be looped.

The shortest video is the one for Valley of Sorrows. It only lasts for 22 seconds. The rest are almost exactly a minute long. Most of them feature callouts to FFXI in the background. For example, a Tarutaru is playing a flute by a fountain in the Western Adoulin one. Of the five, the Misareaux Coast one is the most subtle. It features a waterfall feeding into a pond and river.

This is the fourth batch of virtual backgrounds. The first collection of 10 launched in November 2020. Subsequent selections showed up in June 2021 and August 2021.

Final Fantasy XI is available for PCs. Its Starlight Celebration event kicked off ahead of Christmas 2021 and is running now. People can also take part in the Dragon Quest X event in-game again.
