Tactics Ogre Reborn

Tactics Ogre Reborn Confirmed for PS4, PS5, Switch, and PC

Tactics Ogre: Reborn might be the worst-kept game-related secret of 2022 so far. Its existence has been confirmed by trademark filings, store pages, and deal websites. Seemingly everyone but its makers at Square Enix acknowledge that it is coming, and soon. That era is over. Square Enix has formally announced the game for a November 11, 2022 release date. And it’s coming to more than just PlayStation platforms. The official announcement confirmed that it’s headed to Nintendo Switch and PC, as well.

Square Enix also uploaded a full trailer, featuring gameplay footage and voice acting.

Here’s the trailer in English.

And the same trailer featuring Japanese-language voice acting.

Outside of the target platforms, the Tactics Ogre Reborn trailer and announcement don’t confirm anything not already leaked in some fashion. It’s an enhanced remaster of 2010’s Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together.

The game features enhanced art at high resolution, but otherwise keeps the graphical style of the original. The cutscenes will have voice acting in both English and Japanese (with the option to freely switch between the two languages), and the user interface is rebuilt for HD screens. The music has been rerecorded with live arrangements by original composer Hitoshi Sakamoto. Some new compositions are also present.

The official site also confirms some of the gameplay adjustments coming to Tactics Ogre Reborn. The progression system is now per-unit rather than per-class. Combat AI is enhanced to provide a more engaging challenge. Other usability improvements will speed up battles and add auto-saves.

Tactics Ogre Reborn releases on the PS4, PS5, and Nintendo Switch on November 11, 2022. The PC version releases on November 12, 2022.
