Samurai is one of several available melee DPS Job Classes in Final Fantasy XIV. Introduced in the Stormblood expansion, it is a close ranged DPS that is capable of using both AoE and single target attacks. Sharing gear with the Monk, this would be a natural Job Class for players to pick up as a secondary Job Class if they want to make use of old gear sets. Additionally, Samurai is relatively easy to play in its early levels, and could be a great first melee DPS job for those looking to branch out into other roles. This guide breaks down how to unlock the Samurai Job Class in FFXIV.
First, players will need to hit level 50 and own the Final Fantasy XIV Stormblood expansion. From there, you can head to Ul’dah once these two requirements have been met. Speak to the Ul’dah Citizen at X9.1, Y9.1 to begin the Samurai Job Quest titled “The Way of the Samurai.” This will unlock the Samurai Job Class in FFXIV.
You will want to continue the Samurai Job Class quests at level 60 and level 70 to obtain more Class skills. You will need to do these quests regardless, but make sure to follow the questline once it opens up for you. As it not only provides additional story content, but is necessary for further progression in the game.
