Developer, Alchemist are busy in the process of porting 7th Expansion’s second hit visual novel series, Umineko no Naku Koro ni, to the PlayStation 3. It’s quite likely you won’t get to play that version in localized form anytime soon.

If you’re willing to put up with considerably worse art, however, you can buy fan-translation group, Witch Hunt’s translation of the original PC version, which is now available in DVD form (fully endorsed by 7th Expansion) up to chapter 6 of the series.

Umineko no Naku Koro ni is a story that takes place on the haunted island estate of wealthy family. Trapped on their family grounds by a violent storm, the Ushiromiya family soon discovers that the estate is cursed by a witch named Beatrice to whom the family owes a debt that she appears to be claiming in the form of their lives, one by one.

Umineko no Naku Koro ni has also been adapted into an anime by Studio Deen, who produced the Fate/stay Night anime series.
