Steam has revealed the Star Ocean The Second Story R PC requirements, and they aren’t that demanding, despite how gorgeous this modern action RPG remake is.

Here are the minimum requirements for PC:

  • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system

  • Processor: AMD A8-7600 / Intel® Core™ i3-3210

Will Star Ocean The Second Story R Work on Steam Deck?

For players with a Steam Deck like myself, the game isn’t confirmed playable or verified at this time. That said, you can download the free demo and try it out on your Steam Deck. I haven’t done so yet since I played it on Switch, but Reddit users are noting that it runs well if you can get it to work with Proton compatibility, which is an annoyance.

It’s possible you may have to wait until a post-release patch for the game to get official Steam Deck support, so be careful if you download the demo now.

Star Ocean The Second Story R will be released for Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, and PC on November 2, 2023.
