Some characters like Sha Lan and Yang Jie in Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave require people to give correct answers in a quiz before you can recruit them. This is in addition to their other Support and Renown Level requirements, which vary from character to character. While Yang Jie will join without testing you as part of Dietrich’s tutorials, everyone else has to talk to him about alcoholic beverages first.

Yang Jie is fairly easy to recruit in Part 1 of Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, especially if you are Dietrich or Cai. He’s the first recruit for the former, so you basically just follow the story to get him. For the latter, you can pick him up at only level 2 Support and 3 Renown. Leda and Theodora both require Support Level 3 and higher level Renown for him.
Once Yang Jie is willing to join you, Cai, Leda, and Theodora all need to take a quiz about his likes and dislikes to get him to join. Unlike the Sha Lan one, you can’t really prepare! You instead have to go with common knowledge for one and guess for the other two based on his profile and commentary.
Here are his three questions and the three correct answers to them:
- “Then, my first question! A wine made from grapes pairs best with what snack?”
- “Guess cheese.”
- “Where would you guess that I prefer to sip a bit of the tipple?”
- “Guess it’s under a full moon.”
- “Tell me what my favorite beverage is made of!”
- “Guess fruit.”

Yang Jie is a mage through-and-through in Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave. He’ll learn Attack Magic like Wind and Thunder and Support Magic like Heal, Nosferatu, and Physic. He’s pretty handy as his Monkly Havoc personal skill will heal him whenever he defeats an enemy in battle.
