In December of last year, Xbox Live saw the release of a 16-bit role-playing game titled Cthulhu Saves the World, produced by indie developer, Zeboyd Games.
Just as he was about to destroy the world, a band of heroes sealed Cthulhu’s powers away, and the only way for him to regain them was to become a true hero by saving the world instead…so he could later destroy it himself. Cthulhu Saves the World let you pick from seven characters to include in your party.
Now, Zeboyd are releasing an enhanced version of the game, titled *deep breath* Cthulhu Saves the World: Super Hyper Enhanced Championship Edition Alpha Diamond DX Plus Alpha FES HD – Premium Enhanced Game of the Year Collector’s Edition (without Avatars!). Yes, that’s really what it’s called.
This new edition of the game comes with a new mode, titled “Cthulhu’s Angels,” where Cthulhu is too lazy to save the world himself, so he convinces a bunch of ladies to do it for him. Zeboyd created entirely new characters for the mode, like Molly the Were-Zompire.
In addition, the game has been re-balanced, and a new difficulty mode along with a “super-hard” bonus dungeon has been added to it as well. You can also search for icons within the game to unlock director’s commentary.
Cthulhu Saves the World: Super Hyper Enhanced Championship Edition (etc. etc.) is planned for release this spring on Xbox Live and PC. If you already own the original version of the game, you’ll get to upgrade it for free. Otherwise, you’ll need to buy it for 240 Microsoft Points ($3) on Xbox Live.
