Marvelous Entertainment’s very first 3DS game has a new name: it’s gone from being simply Animal Resort to Animal Resort: Let’s Build a Zoo! Famitsu reported the change today, with a few further details on the game.

A quick recap: Animal Resort has you inherit a zoo. You start out with a lone elephant, but you’ll be able to acquire more animals as you progress. Marvelous have stated in the past that the game contains over 100 animals. Progress in Animal Resort is measured by how well you can take care of these animals.

You do this by snapping pictures of them with an ingame camera. Famitsu reports that by doing this at opportune moments when their energy levels are up, you acquire “Animal Points,” which can be traded in for items and animal feed. You’ll need different kinds of feed for different animals, and will be required to manage your resources properly so you can raise them well.

Keeping your animals happy will make visitors to your zoo happy as well. You’ll be able to get your animals to perform special tricks for them and the bottom screen will display reactions from the crowd using text bubbles.

Animal Resort: Let’s Build a Zoo! is being developed by AQ Interactive. The game doesn’t have a release date yet, but is scheduled for a Spring 2011 release sometime after March.
