Viz Media announced it will rerelease the book Ask Iwata: Words of Wisdom, which is based on the former Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata’s insights. The new version will be a paperback, following the original hardcover release in April 2021. It will be available again in Summer 2026. (Digital copies are still available now on storefronts like Amazon.)

Ask Iwata: Words of Wisdom is a book that is more about life, management, and general thoughts on productivity and pursuing passions. It isn’t a compilation of, say, Iwata Asks topics based on his interviews Satoru Iwata conducted while at Nintendo. Think of it more as a collection of essays that commemorate his approach to work and life. While there could be an occasional reference to Nintendo, it isn’t strictly a gaming book.

Here’s the official teaser image for the cover for the paperback release:

The official trailer also offered more insights into what to expect from it.

When Viz Media first released the Hobonichi book worldwide, it only appeared in hardcover and digital formats. It is still possible to find it at places like Barnes and Noble and Kinokuniya in-stock, but  some stores like Crunchyroll no longer offer it.

The paperback version of Ask Iwata: Words of Wisdom featuring insights from Nintendo’s Satoru Iwata will appear in Spring 2026 in North America.
