Batman: Arkham Origins takes place early on in Bruce Wayne’s career as Batman, with Warner Bros. referring to it as a “Year Two” story. But what about Batman’s first year?

According to Warner Bros. Montreal’s creative director Eric Holmes, Batman: Arkham Origins will be consistent with elements of the Batman: Year One comic book version of Batman’s origin, although certain aspects of it will be different.

When asked by a fan if Year One and Arkham Origins will be relevant to one another, Holmes replied over Twitter (via: GoNintendo), “We have tried to be consistent where possible. The world is consistent although I would consider the Y1 ending (rooftop, card) not.”

While the main Batman: Arkham Origins story campaign will not cover Bruce’s origin story in great detail, the game will be getting an “Initiation” challenge map DLC, which will depict him before his Batman days, taking on a test to prove himself worthy to his teacher, Kirigi.

Meanwhile, over in the world of comic books, Batman is getting an all-new origin story, courtesy of Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo, who are working on the ongoing Batman: Zero Year event that gives Bruce a completely different origin from Batman: Year One.
