There are a number of different types of weather effects in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, with one of the more important ones being rain. This is because rainy weather is tied to one Pokemon’s evolution and another quest in the game can’t proceed until it starts to rain. While it is possible to change the weather, you can’t be guaranteed what it will be like the next day.

How can I make it rain in Pokemon Legends: Z-A?

Basically, you can’t force it to start raining in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, but you can advance time in the hopes that the next day includes some rain. This means finding a bench and opting to allow time to pass when you sit on it to auto-advance to either that night or the next day. But since weather is pretty random in the game, it’s not guaranteed that you’ll experience some storms right as a day starts or get that condition.

From what I found, a rain shower can pop up during the day in Pokemon Legends: Z-A as you play. You can see the drops falling, and you’ll also hear it as it happens. If the shower ends during the daytime, you can even briefly catch a rainbow. When you check the map, there will also be an icon of a cloud with three lines below it confirming that weather condition.

As for why you need rain in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, it is critical for two things. You can’t get a Goodra without rain. Sliggoo will only evolve into one if it is at or over level 50 during that weather. If you happen upon “Side Mission 64: Let It Rain, Let It Pour,” it involves a battle to show how some water type Pokemon can be stronger when it is raining. In that case, you can either revisit Cielestine when it is raining or talk with her again to “force” the right weather to fight her and earn the Mystic Water held item.

Pokemon Legends: Z-A is available for the Switch and Switch 2.
