Capcom: 2 Million Sales For Monster Hunter 4; RE6 Drops To 6 Million

Earlier today, Capcom reported that they saw profits of 4.1 billion yen ($51.6 million) for the first half of their ongoing fiscal year—a 355.1% increase over the first half of their previous fiscal year—owing to strong sales of Resident Evil 6, as well as steady performance of other titles and social games.

This evening, they followed up with new forecasts for the next half of their fiscal year, which ends on March 31st, 2013. There are two points of note here.

First, Capcom have revised their sales forecast for Resident Evil 6. Originally, Capcom estimated they would move 7 million copies of Resident Evil 6 worldwide by March 31st, 2013. That number has been revised downward to 6 million now.

Second, we have Capcom’s sales forecast for Monster Hunter 4, scheduled to release on the Nintendo 3DS in March 2013. By the end of March, Capcom expect to sell 2 million copies of Monster Hunter 4 in Japan alone.

For the second half of the fiscal year, Capcom say they will focus on downloadable content for major titles like Resident Evil 6 and Dragon’s Dogma, release several new social and mobile games, and begin offering services for the Ixion Saga PC online game, as well as the Onimusha Soul browser game.

Despite cutting down on the Resident Evil 6 forecast, Capcom have not made any change to their income forecasts for the entire year, and expect $1.3 billion in net sales and $122.7 million in profits, which are record highs for the company.
