Chunsoft Will Probably Develop Another Game In The Zero Escape Series

Zero Escape: Virtue’s Last Reward director, Kotaro Uchikoshi, says that a sequel to the game is looking likely to happen. Judging by blogs and Twitter impressions, Uchikoshi feels that Virtue’s Last Reward has been well-received.

Virtue’s Last Reward is a follow-up to 999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors. It was released in Japan a couple of weeks ago, and sold 9,300 copies on the Nintendo 3DS and 6,500 copies on the PlayStation Vita.

Aksys Games announced today that they will publish Virtue’s Last Reward (formerly referred to as Good People Die) in North America this fall. Additionally, Aksys Games’ Frank deWindt II revealed in our comments section earlier today, that Zero Escape is officially the series’ new branding.

Interestingly, this also retro-actively applies to 999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors, which will henceforth be called Zero Escape: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors. When asked by a reader if this implies a re-release for the Nintendo DS title, deWindt replied: “We have no comment at this time. :)”

Establishing a new brand sounds like Aksys hope to release future games in the Zero Escape series as well. In Japan, the series is released under the brand Extreme Escape, so we’re now closer to the original Japanese titles.
