Square Enix shared a new Final Fantasy VII Revelation gameplay clip on social media that shows Cloud riding a flying pink Chocobo through the third part of the FFVII remake’s take on Midgar. We previously also saw the bird in this color scheme in the original PS1 game. While the English language account does clip video a bit, the Japanese one shows the full 16:9 perspective.
In the Final Fantasy games, the color of a Chocobo tends to be a hint as to what kind of terrain they can pass. In the original FFVII on the PS1, we had the impression that black and gold Chocobos were ones that could “fly” over mountains, water, and in the case of the latter oceans. Pink Chocobos did appear, but in the Gold Saucer. In the FFVII Revelation flying Chocobo footage, we see Cloud make the bird jump, then air dash and glide around Midgar’s outskirts. The bird then descends into a mountainous area, apparently being able to collect some Moogle plush along the way.
Here’s that full FFVII Revelation gameplay clip:
Chocobos aren’t the only returning element. A lot of things are coming back from both the PS1 installment and past remake entries. The piano-playing minigame will return, for example.
The Final Fantasy VII Revelation release date is April 8, 2027, and it will come to the Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC, and the FFVII Remake and Rebirth entries are available on all four of those platforms now.
