D3 Publisher dips into DS adventure games for girls

Dear My Sun, an “otome” game where you have to raise two kids as a single mother, did pretty well in Japan where it was released as a PlayStation 2 game. Let’s say, it sold enough copies for D3 to throw a live event with musicians in Hitotsubashi Memorial Hall yesterday. At the Dear my Mom event D3 Publisher announced they will start developing otome games for the Nintendo DS. Otome games are simply explained as the shoujo equivalent of visual novel dating games, but some of them have more gameplay elements than chasing men. Princess Maker and Dear My Sun are examples of otome games with an emphasis on raising or caring for a character. The first Nintendo DS otome title from D3 Publisher is tentatively scheduled for a summer release in Japan and it is called Hoshi Sora no Comic Garden (loosely Comic Garden in the Starry Sky).
