On August 6th, Cave will release a sizeable update to Deathsmiles on iPhone, which will bring new items, music and costumes to the game. As far as costumes go, the update will allow you to unlock additional costumes for Tiara after fulfilling certain conditions in the game. Some of these outfits, they say, might be recognizable from somewhere.
New music will come in the form of a new background music track that Cave say will also sound familiar to players. In order to unlock the track, you’ll have to perform some kind of special track. The only hint they provide is rather vague: “Flash flash? Tap tap!”
Once you’ve got the update, you’ll also be able to collect puzzle pieces while playing the game. These pieces can be assembled into an original illustration by Deathsmiles’ iPhone Mode illustrator, Yukinatsu Mori. The most significant addition is that of new items, however. Cave are bringing over items from Guwange and Dodonpachi Resurrection as DLC items. Another item will increase the in-game item drop-rate.
Finally, the August 6th update will also add a screen rotation (flipping) feature, and an option to switch the screen to the left or right. They’ll be holding a livestream at this link on August 5th at 11:00 AM (GMT), showing off some of these features and providing further hints on how to unlock the new background music track.
