In Japan, Arc System Works have a DSiWare game titled Romance of the Three Kingdoms Tower Defense. The ESRB recently rated a DSiWare game to be published by Aksys, titled Defense of the Middle Kingdom, and it sounds similar to Romance of the Three Kingdoms Tower Defense, which means Arc System Works’ tower defense game could be headed overseas. Here’s the description:

“This is a tower defense/strategy game in which players must prevent waves of stubby enemy troops from reaching a goal. From a top-down perspective, players arrange soldier units along winding paths to defeat the approaching enemies (e.g., knights, archers). Battles depict small characters using swords, arrows, and traps to attack opponents; brief slashing sounds can be heard as defeated soldiers fall over and disappear.”

That does sound quite a bit like the trailer video above. Aksys haven’t announced Defense of the Middle Kingdom yet.

A big thanks to Derek for pointing out that Castle Attackers has already been localized under the title, Castle Conquerers, and for pointing us to the more likely candidate.
