Demon’s Souls Was Japan’s Most Downloaded PS5 Game In 2020

The Japanese PlayStation Blog has published the top 10 digital download rankings on the PlayStation Store in 2020. Demon’s Souls and Final Fantasy VII Remake were Japan’s most downloaded games on the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, respectively.

The Japanese rankings provide an interesting contrast to the North American and European charts listed on the English post. Demon’s Souls only placed 5th in the Western PS5 charts, which were instead topped by Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. The top two PS4 games in Japan—Final Fantasy VII Remake and Ghost of Tsushima—could only make it into 9th and 5th places on the American ranking, and neither of them appeared on the European list.

Japan did agree with the rest of the world on a couple of things, with Beat Saber being the most downloaded PlayStation VR game and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales the second most downloaded PlayStation 5 game across all regions.

The Japanese PS5 add-on ranking, however, was curiously dominated by Dead by Daylight.
