Blizzard are allowing Diablo III players to let their friends try the game out for free. All copies of the game, Blizzard announced this week, come with a Guest Pass key, which you can give to a friend. Your friend can then use the key to download and try out a limited version.

This limited version, called the “Starter Edition,” comes with these restrictions:

  • Act I up to the Skeleton King is available
  • Level 13 cap
  • Matchmaking available only with other Starter Edition players
  • No Real Money Auction House access

Once you’ve got the Starter Edition, if you like, you can upgrade it to the full version of the game. Details on how to download and/or upgrade the Diablo III Starter Edition are available here.
