After the Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave prologue, Fortuna cautions Eshmel and warns that we’ll need as many allies as possible going into the final battles against Balor. This means going through the Part 1 Heroic Games arc routes and recruiting as many characters as we can. However, you might wonder if you really need to finish Cai, Dietrich, Leda, and Theodora’s stories and finish the four part 1 routes to survive Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave Part 3. I would strongly recommend that you, at bare minimum, complete at least two of those storylines and get through every paralogue possible before going into that final part.

There are three reasons why I recommend at least finishing two Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave Part 1 routes, if not all four. It is possible to just try and skip ahead and power through without any of the lords or recruitable characters! However, the Part 3 battles are extremely challenging both due to the map design, opponents deployed, and nature of the bosses that show up there. Being able to fight back with a large, diverse army is beneficial! So the first reason I recommend not skipping ahead is so you can use extra characters when needed.
Speaking of diversity and characters, completing multiple routes is good for another reason. Getting through the paralogues in Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave Part 1 unlocks folks as guest characters for Part 3. This not only applies to faction leaders like Anatolia, Bertrand, Orchel, and Talimun. It also holds true for the lord characters like Cai, Dietrich, Leda, and Theodora. If you finished their Part 1 route, then go to the Part 3 screen, ones who will be 100% ready to go and fully part of your army will be facing forward. If you completed their paralogue, they’ll be alive and around to help, but not in as great a capacity.
Finally, you’re going to want the option to use as many classes as possible. While there are some that will be available no matter which routes you complete, a few jobs only open up by playing through Cai, Dietrich, Leda, and Theodora’s routes. For example, you’re not going to get a Dancer unless you get through Leda’s storyline. Having additional options makes a big difference and offers more tactical advantages once you get to those later fights.
