Electronic Arts and Bioware have announced the next Dragon Age role-playing game. It’s titled Dragon Age 3: Inquisition, and has been in development for close to two years.

“We’ve been poring over player feedback from past games and connecting directly with our fans,” says Aaryn Flynn, General Manager of BioWare Edmonton and BioWare Montreal. “They haven’t held back, so we’re not either.”

He continues: “With Dragon Age 3: Inquisition, we want to give fans what they’re asking for—a great story with choices that matter, a massive world to explore, deep customization and combat that is both tactical and visceral.”

Dragon Age 3: Inquisition is being developed using EA’s Frostbite 2 technology, developed by the Sweden-based DICE and used for Battlefield 3. Bioware say they’re working with DICE to make Frostbite the foundation for Dragon Age 3’s engine, and that several members of the Dragon Age: Origins team are working on the game.

Electronic Arts haven’t announced a release date for Dragon Age 3: Inquisition yet, but say it’s coming in late 2013. They mention that the Dragon Age series has sold over 8 million copies to date.
