It’s only been a little over a month since Electronic Arts released Deathspank to a consistently positive reception, but a sequel to the game has already been named and dated.

DeathSpank: Thongs of Virtue is due September 21st and 22nd for PlayStation Network ($14.99) and Xbox Live Arcade (1200 Microsoft Points) respectively. Like the first game, Thongs of Virtue includes both a single-player and local co-op mode. Joining DeathSpank and Sparkles this time around is Steve, a ninja. As to what’s up with the title…

“A long time ago, nine mystical thongs were planned to bring balance and harmony to the universe, but when marketing got in the way, only six thongs were produced, and the result was disastrous. Granting great power to those who wear them, the thongs corrupted all those they touched — except DeathSpank. DeathSpank must find all six thongs and destroy them once and for all.”

If you need to get caught up, you can click over and read our playtest of the original DeathSpank. There’s a comical FAQ on EA’s website for the game if as well, if you’re interested. It confirms that EA will be producing a PS3 demo for players outside North America this time around.
