The story of the three soldiers and Sephiroth was originally a part of Square Enix’s free-to-play battle royale mobile game, Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier. However, they mainly appeared in promotional movies and that tales wasn’t fleshed out. In the original game, the story centers on a young Sephiroth and three soldiers—Glenn, Matt, and Lucia. In the updated Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis version, the story takes place 15 years before the original Final Fantasy VII and depicts Sephiroth’s childhood.

Here are a few more in-depth details about the three soldiers. They are all labed as “class P0.”

  • Glenn Lodbrok is a class P0 Soldier who volunteers to find a site for the construction of a mako reactor in hostile territory.
  • Lucia Lin is a class P0 Soldier who is a leader in the Shinra Army who acts as a sniper.
  • Matt Winsord is a class P0 Soldier who uses his quick wit and good judgment on risky missions.
