Final Fantasy VII Remake Delayed Until April 2020

There’s some disheartening news for people who were counting on playing Final Fantasy VII Remake in March 2020. Square Enix has just delayed the game. Instead, its new release date is April 10, 2020.

Producer Yoshinori Kitase offered an explanation for the Final Fantasy VII Remake release date delay on Twitter. In a statement, he noted the goal was to release a game that met their standards of quality. The extra almost month of time will be used to polish the game so it is in a better place when it launches.

Here is the full statement.

Final Fantasy VII Remake originally had a March 3, 2020 release date. It seemed like that could have been a solid release date. Especially since a demo was shown at many events and seemed to be leaked for an imminent PlayStation Store release. (Its opening even appeared online, followed by more trial footage.)

Final Fantasy VII Remake will come to the PlayStation 4 on April 10, 2020. It is only a temporary PlayStation 4 exclusive, with evidence possibly suggesting a PC version will also eventually appear.
