Square Enix usually tend to charge a relatively high price for their iOS games.

For example, where most iPhone games cost single digits, Final Fantasy III costs $16. Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions costs the same. The iOS port of Chrono Trigger? That’s $10. Another game with more time and effort put into it, Chaos Rings II, which is specifically built for iOS, costs $18.

Final Fantasy Dimensions will cost more than any of those titles. Square Enix announced this morning that the retro-style RPG will cost $28.99 / £19.99 / €22.99 on the whole. The game is divided up into chapters, and Square will give users the chance to try out the first chapter for a low price before they decide if they want the entire game. Here’s how the pricing works out:

Prologue – Free

Chapter 1 – $2.99 / £1.99 / €2.39

Chapters 2-4 – $9.99 / £6.99 / €7.99

Entire game – $28.99 / £19.99 / €22.99

Final Fantasy Dimensions will be released on August 31st for iOS and Android simultaneously worldwide.
