This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

People in the United States who went directly through Square Enix for a Final Fantasy VII Remake preorder will have to return to the site to ensure they get their copy. The company announced on Twitter that the delay means people have to visit the store to confirm their preorder. If they don’t do so by February 28, 2020, they will lose their reserved copy. In addition, Square Enix Store will charge people for orders that same day.

Here is Square Enix’s Final Fantasy VII Remake preorder notice.

For our fans in the United States who have preordered Final Fantasy VII Remake from the Square Enix Store:

Due to the release date change to April 10th, you must opt in by February 28th for your order not to be cancelled. To confirm your order please check for an email from Square Enix on this topic, and then click the link in the email to be taken to a web page to opt in.

If you do not opt-in to keep your preorder by February 28th, your preorder will be automatically cancelled. We will not be able to reinstate your preorder, based on limited quantities available.

Considering the updated release timing, payment processing for your preorder will now begin on Friday, February 28th, 2020. We will send out a reminder email on Wednesday, February 20th, asking you to make sure the payment method is up to date on your account.

If the first payment attempt is unsuccessful, there will be additional debit attempts through the next few weeks. Once your payment has been processed, you will receive a confirmation email letting you know that your copy of Final Fantasy VII Remake has been secured.

This is especially important for people who have preordered the Final Fantasy VII Remake 1st Class Edition. This $329.99 collector’s edition is only available through the Square Enix Store and is currently sold out with a waitlist.

Final Fantasy VII Remake will come to the PlayStation 4 on April 10, 2020.
