During the June 9, 2026 Nintendo Direct, Square Enix revealed the HD-2D Final Fantasy Resonance game for the Switch and Switch 2 based on the now shuttered mobile JRPG Brave Exvius. Not long after, it confirmed this will be a multiplatform release that will appear on the PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC too. That will come out on October 22, 2026.

Final Fantasy Resonance doesn’t cover the full Brave Exvius storyline, as Square Enix confirmed it will go over only the season one storyline. This covers the start of the adventure, which sees Rain of Grandshelt and his friend Lasswell’s discovery of an amnesiac young woman named Fina who was trapped in a crystal. The two of them learn that Lapis’ crystals are under attack, and join her to protect them and face Veritas of the Dark. This will be a rebuild and reimagining of the story from the mobile game.

It will still feature a turn-based battle system and will involve crossovers from other Final Fantasy games in the form of Visions. It’s unknown if this also means we’ll see other Square Enix cameos, as the original Final Fantasy Brave Exvius included folks like Parasite Eve’s Aya Brea and Serge from Chrono Cross.

Here’s the first trailer for the game:

Final Fantasy Resonance will appear on the Switch, Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC onOctober 22, 2026, and Final Fantasy Brave Exvius appeared on mobile devices between 2015 and 2025.
