Final Fantasy XIV producer, Naoki Yoshida, has penned another “Letter from the Producer” column over on Square Enix’s forums. As always, Yoshida gives an update on what the development team is up to, and what plans they have for the game’s future developments.
“We’re already working on content for the year’s first patch, 1.20b, and developing the job system, job quests, and new dungeons (there’s two of them!) slated for 1.21 at the same time, so our schedule is absolute pandemonium at this point,” Yoshida writes. Patch 1.21 will also add exclusive gear sets for the new jobs. They’re illustrated in the screenshot above.
Patches 1.20 b and 1.21 don’t have release dates yet, but a smaller patch, 1.20a, will be out before the end of the year. Yoshida says this will address the difficulty of getting triggers for the new Moogle battle.
For Final Fantasy XIV Ver. 2.0, which is slated for release next year, Yoshida says the development team is examining new race/gender additions. A few new customizable options will be available in time for 2.0’s release.
