The first Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge trailer has appeared and, well, it spends a lot more time on Shang Tsung’s Mortal Kombat tournament than on the “star” of the show. The one and a half minute clip begins by setting the stage and introducing everyone except for the Shirai Ryu ninja. However, once it hits the 45 second mark, it finally cuts to Hanzo Hasashi.
Shang Tsung, voiced by Artt Butler, narrates most of the Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge trailer. He explains everyone has been invited to participate in Mortal Kombat to determine the fate of places like Earth. After showing familiar faces like Liu Kang, Johnny Cage, Kano, Kitana, Raiden, and Sonya Blade, we finally “meet” Scorpion.
It is then that Scorpion reveals his reasons for competing. When his tormenter asks what he wants, he says that he wants his revenge. As he does, we see him both as a human and in his normal ninja form alongside glimpses of Sub-Zero.
The video then closes things out with a character overview. All of the notable fighters are shown, and there are multiple looks at Scorpion and Sub-Zero in the midst of different matches.
The Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge animated movie was first announced at the end of January 2020. This film will apparently go over Shang Tsung’s initial tournament, based on the appearances of characters like Johnny Cage and Sonya Blade. It will also bring back returning Scorpion voice actor Patrick Seitz and Sub-Zero voice actor Steve Blum.
Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge will be released in Spring 2020. As far as games go, Mortal Kombat 11 is immediately available for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, and Joker just arrived as the latest playable character.
