Pokémon GO has received a rather major update today. Pokémon from the second generation of games, that is Pokémon Gold, Silver, and Crystal, are appearing. As examples of new creatures that can be encountered, Niantic notes that Pichu and Togepi will now hatch from your eggs.
In addition, a Christmas Pikachu event has begun. Until 10am PT/1pm ET on December 29, 2016, limited edition Pikachu will appear around the world. These Pikachu will appear wearing Santa hats. Already, Santa Pikachus are appearing under the hashtag #HolidayPikachu on Twitter.
