Disney have announced that they are scheduling their live-action Ghost in the Shell movie starring Scarlett Johansson for April 14th, 2017. (Thanks, Superhero Hype)

April 17th puts Ghost in the Shell’s release just one week after another movie that has its roots in anime and Japanese pop-culture—Guillermo del Toro’s tentatively titled Pacific Rim 2.

Meanwhile, in Japan, the Ghost in the Shell franchise is still in the midst of celebrating its 25th anniversary. A new animated movie is scheduled to premiere in Japan this Spring, while last year’s Ghost in the Shell: Arise OVAs are being adapted into a TV anime.

Finally, on the videogame front, Nexon are currently working on a Ghost in the Shell online shooter, which is set in the Stand Alone Complex universe. You can learn more about it here.
