There’s a new Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising release date, due to the game being delayed. Cygames said it will now release on December 14, 2023, and the Granblue Showcase: Part 2 – GBVSR will be held on December 2, 2023.
Cygames originally said the game would debut on November 30, 2023 during Evo 2023. However, due to a desire to ensure the overall quality of the final product, it’s been pushed back a few weeks. While feedback from tests was positive, the major adjustments announced in October 2023 will take more time to complete. People who get standard versions can play on December 14, 2023. If someone buys the Digital Deluxe Edition, they get early access to the title on December 11, 2023 now.
As for the Granblue Showcase: Part 2 – GBVSR, there’s no exact release time yet. The team only noted that instead of appearing in November 2023, it will air on December 2, 2023.
Here’s part of the statement from Creative Director Tetsuya Fukuhara about the delay:
After our first online beta was held in July, the development team pulled out all the stops to rework the game’s mechanics and battle design in time for the initially scheduled release date. Despite our best efforts, however, it has become clear to me that additional time will be needed to put the finishing touches on the game.
Upon completing our adjustments to the game’s battle mechanics, we revealed the changes during our Balance and System Adjustments stream on October 20 and the first public playtest at the “GBVS Official Tournament, vol. 7” last weekend, where they were met with an overwhelmingly positive reception.
However, due to the number of modes that were affected by these changes, we found the overall impact to be much larger than anticipated, and decided that, in order to meet player expectations, we would need two more weeks of polish and debugging to put out a truly high-quality product. We regret announcing this as the second beta is just around the corner, but please rest assured that the beta schedule itself has not changed.
The new Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising release date is December 14, 2023. Those who get the Deluxe Edition can begin playing on December 11, 2023. It will appear on the PS4, PS5, and PC.
