Some of you may recall an indie game we reported on last year, titled Americana Dawn. Inspired by older Japanese RPGs like the first two Suikoden games and Final Fantasy III, Americana Dawn is set in 18th century Colonial America. The game tries to take an “edutainment” approach by trying to remain as historically accurate as possible. This week, the creators released a new trailer for it:
Americana Dawn will be a freeware game when it’s released, but the project’s founder hopes to be able to compensate the artists, composers and programmer who worked on the title. For this purpose, they’ve set up a Kickstarter page where followers can contribute money that will compensate the developers. Funding-wise, the project is currently at over 50% of its goals, with 12 days to go before the Kickstarter campaign comes to a close.
Americana Dawn is slated for release in winter 2012. Prior to that, a demo will be released on July 4th.
