How Much Muramasa Or Castlevania Do You See In This AeternoBlade Footage?

AeternoBlade, an upcoming indie platformer for Nintendo 3DS, has some new in-game footage that the game’s developers showed off today. The footage shows off combat gameplay, and you can watch it below to decide how much Muramasa and Castlevania inspiration you find. Look out for the boss fight halfway through:

Developer Corecell recently revealed that AeternoBlade has a combo unlock system, as well as an upgrade system. There’s a move tree of over 40 moves for protagonist Freyja to learn, spread across different kinds of combos, and each time you invest in a new move, it’ll extend your combo, as well as increase your damage output.

You invest in combo moves using Yellow Orbs, but these can also be used to upgrade Freyja’s stats. Alternatively, you can equip relics to power yourself up, too. Relics differ in the bonuses they provide—some offer stat upgrades, while others give you skills.

AeternoBlade is still in development, and the game is close to complete, but Corecell are trying to fund a retail release through crowdfunding. In the event that they are unable to do so, the game will be released via the Nintendo eShop.
