At some point in Village in the Shade, it is very likely you are going to end up with cursed crops or fish, and you can’t just sell them or throw them out like other items. Instead, you need to dispose of them in a specific method. Fortunately, doing so is fairly easy and can net you stuff from the god that purified them if you venture out at night.

Editor’s note: There will be no Village in the Shade spoilers below.

From what I’ve found, cursed fish in Village in the Shade are exclusively found if you fish after 11pm in the game, while cursed crops are found via another spoiler method tied into late night discoveries. Any fishing spot will work if you want to get a cursed item that way.

Here’s what a cursed fish looks like, for reference.

Now, the first time this happens, you can trigger an event with Konno if you have one of the cursed crops or fish in your bag when you talk with him in Village in the Shade. He’ll notice what you have, mistakenly think you’re collecting them, and warn you about being careless when disposing of it. He’ll then offer to tell you how to handle it for 1,000 yen. Now, I gave him the money, so I don’t know if you can still go through this process and unlock the purification and proper disposal without paying. But he’ll direct you to Okami Pond, which is just below the waterfall at the northeast corner of the map. He notes tossing the item in is the way to handle the situation.

In the gallery below, I marked where you’ll need to go on the map to reach Okami Pond in Village in the Shade.

You can toss the cursed crops and fish into Okami Pond at any time. Day or night works. Just approach, hover over the item in your taskbar via moving the indicator over with the joystck, and press X to toss. However, you won’t see the results of that until after 11pm.

Village in the Shade is available on the Switch, Switch 2, PS5, and PC.
