How to Get Snorlax in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC

There are two main ways to get yourself an adorable and cuddly Snorlax in the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC. Returning in The Teal Mask, Snorlax and its pre-evolution, Munchlax, are once again back for you to add them to your collection. If you don’t have a Snorlax to transfer over from Pokemon Home or don’t want to go that route, here’s what you need to do.

How to Catch a Snorlax in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

The first of the two ways you can get a Snorlax in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is to catch it directly. It is possible to get an already evolved Snorlax in Kitakami, but you’ll have to visit the Timeless Woods. This is a massive section of the region in the northeastern corner of the map.

In this large forest, you can usually find Snorlax on the southern side near the large cave mouth. This spawn is randomized, though, so it may take some time to find it there. Once you locate it, it is as simple as battling Snorlax and catching it.

How to Evolve Munchlax Into Snorlax

Now, there is another way to get Snorlax and that is to evolve a Munchlax, also available in the Kitakami region, into its larger version. This is crucial for those players who want to evolve their free shiny Munchlax into a shiny new Snorlax.

To do this, you need to raise its Friendship stat to 220 or higher and then level it up. Catching a Munchlax in a Luxury Ball, Friendship Ball, using berries like the Kelpsy Berry and Tamato Berry, using it in battle, and walking around with it all can raise Friendship.

In addition, I suggest grabbing a Soothe Bell if you can find one and having your Munchlax hold it.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s The Teal Mask DLC is available for Nintendo Switch. The Indigo Disk will release in Winter 2023.
