Each region in Atelier Yumia will have their own independent comfort levels that you can increase by placing new buildings or items into the environment. Increasing the comfort level of an area is a quest you will often see tied up with the pioneering effort. When you have completed a certain percentage of these tasks, you can unlock special rewards like recipes, new base types and shop trades. What’s more, the comfort level quests tend to dish out more percentage points in the pioneering effort, so it can be rather advantageous to go for these tasks if you’re trying to hit a specific milestone.

How Do I Build a Basic Base in Atelier Yumia?
After the team has cleared up their first manabound area, you will unlock the building feature. This event happens very early on in the main story, so if you haven’t reached this part yet, continue playing the game at your own pace. The basic base will be the first building type that will become available to you.
To create the basic base, go to any building location on the map. Once there, open the shortcut wheel by pressing LB and choose “Building”. When you are in the building mode, press start, and it will show you a list of different building structures. You will want to pick the Normal (Free Build) and then the basic base.
To create a basic base, you will need the following materials:
- Iron 12
- Powder 36
- Wood 154
- Fiber 26
- Stone 254
- Saltpeter 4
You will be provided with the materials the first time you are asked to construct the basic base. But after that, you will need to gather the materials yourself. You can pick up many of these materials naturally by collecting items in the environment. The trickiest material will probably be the Saltpeter, which you can get by picking up Etherial Stone(s) on the ground. As you progress through the plot, you can get other buildings, which will also have a comfort level that you can improve.

How Do I Increase the Comfort Level in Atelier Yumia?
Every building you place on the land will have a certain comfort level. However, you can increase this level by placing items inside or outside the building. To obtain these items, you will have to craft them on a workbench. You can create many items, including furniture, beds, and lamps, so you can easily lose a ton of time decorating and making some of the buildings look incredibly cozy. Â
Once you have crafted the items you would like to place in the building, bring up the shortcut wheel by pressing LB and enter “Building”. You will now want to “Open the List” by pressing X, and it will show you all the items you have crafted so far. From here, select the item you would like in the property, and once you are happy with its positioning, place it down. The overall comfort level of the building will now increase. You can check the amount of comfort in that building by looking at the meter at the bottom of the screen.

If you would like more items at your disposal, make sure to open treasure troves, as they often harbour recipes for furniture. Remember, to open treasure troves, you must collect keys from chests scattered across the map. It’s also worth mentioning that you can increase a region’s comfort level by placing items at campsites. But we don’t recommend this method as it does not increase the overall comfort level much and can make the location look a bit messy.
