How to Read and Watch the One Piece Manga, Anime, and Movies

One Piece is this massive, mammoth thing with an ongoing manga, a long-running anime adaptation, and multiple movies, and it might be difficult to figure out how to read and watch via streaming services. Especially with the Netflix live-action adaptation coming in 2023. To help people keep up, here’s how you can get started or catch up with the series.

How to Read the One Piece Manga in Order

This depends how you want to read it. If you want physical copies, Viz Media is your best bet. Volume 102 released on December 6, 2022, for example.

If you’re willing to go digital, then you can choose between Manga Plus or Viz Media. All the chapters are in order there.

How to Watch the One Piece Anime in Order

Okay, so, this is an easy one.

Crunchyroll is your best bet. It features the East Blue through Wano arcs. Everything is well-ordered and organized.

You can also go through some other sources. Hulu offers episodes 1-152. Netflix has 1-325. Pluto TV also features episodes 1-325. YouTube TV notes it goes up through 609.

How to Watch the One Piece Movies in Order

This isn’t as easy! Yes, the One Piece movies tend to feature original stories that are only somewhat related to current events in the manga and anime adaptation. This means you don’t necessarily need to watch them one after the other in order.

There are some exceptions. The Desert Princess and the Pirates: Adventures in Alabasta and Episode of Chopper both cover the Arabasta and Drum Island arc in different ways.

They also tend to be self-contained, aside from The Adventure of Deadend and The Cursed Holy Sword tying into each other.

However, it gets difficult for a few reasons. One is that some aren’t readily available in English. For example, the first three films never had an “official” release. The other is that even the ones that did show up worldwide aren’t all streaming at the moment.

Here’s the order for films, some of which you’ll honestly need to buy due to the streaming situations. Any official English releases are noted. The movies can typically be found on Netflix.

  1. One Piece: The Movie
  2. One Piece: Clockwork Island Adventure
  3. One Piece: Chopper’s Kingdom on the Island of Strange Animals
  4. One Piece: The Adventure of Deadend
  5. One Piece: The Cursed Holy Sword
  6. One Piece: Baron Omatsuri and the Secret Island
  7. One Piece: The Giant Mechanical Soldier of Karakuri Castle
  8. One Piece Movie: The Desert Princess and the Pirates: Adventures in Alabasta – Note: This appeared outside Japan. It is currently streaming on Netflix.
  9. One Piece: Episode of Chopper: The Miracle Winter Cherry Blossom – Note: This appeared outside Japan. It is currently streaming on Netflix.
  10. One Piece Film: Strong World – Note: This appeared outside Japan. It is currently streaming on Netflix.
  11. One Piece 3D: Straw Hat Chase – Note: This appeared outside Japan as well.
  12. One Piece Film: Strong World – Note: This appeared outside Japan. It is currently streaming on Netflix.
  13. One Piece Film: Z – Note: This appeared outside Japan. It is currently streaming on Netflix.
  14. One Piece Film: Gold – Note: This appeared outside Japan. It is currently streaming on Netflix.
  15. One Piece: Stampede – Note: This appeared outside Japan.
  16. One Piece Film: Red – Note: This appeared outside Japan.

As a reminder, One Piece Film: Red physical copies appeared outside of Japan in July 2023!
