How to Revive Characters in Baldur’s Gate 3

Death is inevitable in The Forgotten Realms, and Baldur’s Gate 3 presents its own set of challenges to players in the form of arduous combat encounters or even dangerous puzzles. And some of these encounters may leave your party worse for wear or even dead. However, even the dead can be brought back into the realm of the living, proving you have the resources to do so. This guide will break down how to revive characters in Baldur’s Gate 3.

How to Revive Characters in Baldur’s Gate 3

Reviving characters in Baldur’s Gate 3 is relatively simple, especially since the game provides you with more than enough Scrolls of Revivify to do so. These are probably some of the most valuable items in the game for that very reason. After a character has died, you can use a Scroll of Revivify to revive them, so long as they are within your line of sight. However, if you run out of Scrolls of Revivify (and this may happen on Tactician Difficulty) there are also spells that can revive your deceased party members.

Clerics and Paladins will have access to the Revivify spell, which does exactly what a Scroll of Revivify does. However, this will only become available once you have reached the ability to use level three magic. Which means that it will not be available to you in the early hours of the game. However, once you have access to this spell, you can cast it as much as you like between Long Rests, when you have the spell slots available to do so.

That said, there is a third option you can use to revive dead party members, and that’s with Withers. Upon recruiting Withers he will skulk around your camp and allow you to not only change your Class, but will also revive dead party members. Much like changing your Class, it will cost you gold to revive dead characters — 200 gold to be precise.

As you can see, death is never permanent in Baldur’s Gate 3. It is relatively easy to revive characters, so long as you have the resources.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is available for PC and PlayStation 5.
