Square Enix and United Front Games have put up a new “making of” video for Sleeping Dogs where the United Front staff share how they went about doing research for the game’s Hong Kong setting.
In addition to reading books and watching movies in the same setting, it also involved making trips to Hong Kong and talking to the police. United Front say they got to speak to a member of the Hong Kong secret service to help them understand some of the dangers faced by the region. They also talked to triad members to get an idea of how the triads fit into Hong Kong society.
In the game itself, the island of Hong Kong will be divided into four separate points: North Point (which is where you start out), Central Hong Kong, Kennedy Town and Aberdeen Harbour. Sleeping Dogs will be released sometime during the second half of this year.
