Legend has it Biomiracle Bokutte Upa wasn’t good enough for North American Nintendo owners according to ex-Nintendo of America President Howard Phillips. However, that was in the late 80’s. Apparently, things have changed and it’s good enough now as a Virtual Console release on the Wii. The ESRB rated Konami’s bouncing baby, rattle shaking platform with an E for everyone.
Gley Lancer, a Japan-only shoot ‘em up, is also on the ESRB’s updated list. Sega released Gley Lancer on the Mega Drive and it should be easy to play since it has some English text. I doubt Sega is going to invest any money in translating the story sequences unless there is some lost translation lying underneath a dusty bin of Genesis prototypes.
Europe recently got a slew of Virtual Console imports including Gradius II and Cho Aniki via the 2nd Hanabi Festival. Perhaps, we will see those in North America too?
