The Egoist website does not state why the band is breaking up. However, it thanks fans for all of their support over the years. Egoist consists of Ryo (Supercell) and Chelly, who is the vocalist. As a side note, Chelly will continue to sing songs under her other stage name, Reche. She already worked on an <em>Atelier Ryza 3 song solo recently as such. The two originally came together in 2011 to produce the music for Guilty Crown. However, the duo continued to work together even afterwards.

Songs from the band have appeared in multiple anime series since their debut. They also release their own music separate from anime works, such as the “Extra terrestrial Biological Entities” album that came out in September 2012. Aside from Guilty Crown, they wrote songs that appeared in Fate/Apocrypha, Psycho-Pass, and Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress.

Egoist will break up after its upcoming concerts in 2023. Its Osaka concert will take place on September 23, 2023. Its Yokohama concert will take place on October 9, 2023, which will be the final date they appear together as a group.
