While they debuted an English trailer for E3 2011 (embedded again above, in case you missed it), Square Enix also had news for Japan on the Final Fantasy XIII-2 front today. The game, they announced, will hit the Japanese market in December.

Meanwhile, the PlayStation 3 version of Final Fantasy XIII will be seeing an update on July 21st that will add an “Easy mode” feature to the game. That’s the same day the budget re-release of the game goes on sale under Square’s “Ultimate Hits” label. The Xbox 360 version of the game already has the Easy mode included.

Square also added that the Final Fantasy games have shipped over 100 million units worldwide, as of May 2011. A price for Final Fantasy XIII-2 in Japan has not been decided yet. In the U.S. and Europe, Square Enix will release it in “early 2012”.
