Gust and Koei Tecmo shared an update on The Apothecary Diaries: The False Imperial Brother that confirmed characters like Jinshi will be playable at parts of the game alongside Maomao. He and some other supporting cast members from the manga, light novel, and anime can be used in certain situations in the game. Early purchase and pre-order bonuses are also confirmed.
Initially, we only saw Maomao creating concoctions and investigating in the early The Apothecary Diaries: The False Imperial Brother screenshots and footage before the confirmation that Jinshi and other characters will be playable in the game. While she can reach certain areas and eavesdrop, using Jinshi means being able to take a more direct approach to get insight and testimony from higher-ranked officials and individuals. Two other confirmed playable characters are Luomen and the Guen. Like Maomao, both can be used for synthesis and creating different medicines, potions, and items.
Here’s the latest trailer for the game, which shows different playable The Apothecary Diaries: The False Imperial Brother characters like Maomao and Jinshi.
In terms of what you get for buying the game ahead of time or early, they’re basically add-on packs of extra items to use as we play. The pre-order one is the Apothecary’s Tasteful Accessory Pack. That only is available with digital copies. If anyone gets a digital or physical copy, then they get an Apothecary’s Starter Kit and Modest Accessory Pack.
